Presenter Engagement Process

The Queens Public Library (QPL) offers programs intended to further the library's mission to transform lives by cultivating personal and intellectual growth and by building strong communities. These programs are provided as a means through which the public of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds can share experiences, appreciate special interests, and exchange information.

All Library programs are open to the public and offered free of charge.

All reasonable efforts will be made to provide accessible accommodation for all. However, when safety or the success of a program requires it, attendance may be limited and will be determined on a first come, first served basis, either with advanced registration or at the door.

In no case will attendance at a program be limited because the content of the program may be controversial

Queens Public Library (QPL) may collaborate on programs not developed by the library that promote the library's mission.

To ensure a variety of offerings that reflect Queens’ diversity and the library’s programmatic strategic goals, Queens Public Library (QPL) evaluates each program, taking into consideration multiple factors including, without limitations, the presenters’ demonstrated qualifications and expertise, the library’s budget and other allocated resources, and the public’s demonstrated interest in a specific topic.

Queens Public Library does not offer programs:

  • Of a purely commercial nature, including but not limited to presentations offered free but with the intention of soliciting future business.
  • That supports or opposes any political candidate, ballot measure, or specific religious conviction

However, educational or entertaining programs such as candidates' forums that include invitations to all recognized candidates, and holiday programs may be offered.

No personal information will be gathered on-site or necessary to attend a program. Names, emails, and materials requesting library visitors to sign a petition or letter are not permitted at library programs.

At the library's discretion, the sale of books, CDs, or other items by authors or performers/presenters may be permissible as part of a Library program. Library staff may not assist with sales. Presenters are encouraged to donate a copy of their work to the library for inclusion in the library collection [Policy D9].

All presenters interested in working with Queens Public Library (QPL) must apply on QPL’s presenter webpage (URL) and meet all requirements before being considered. Please note that QPL does not guarantee that all accepted program proposals will be invited to present their program at a library location.

Presenter Guidelines

All individuals, groups, or organizations interested in conducting a program at the library must complete the Library’s Program Proposal Form electronically. Queens Public Library accepts submissions of new program presenters throughout the year.
