General Guidelines
All individuals, groups or organizations conducting a program at Queens Public Library are required to follow Queens Public Library's Guidelines and Requirements.
Performers and musicians who use music, movies or other copyrighted materials in their programs at the library must only use material for which they have permission to use. However they intend to use it. The library expects that performers and musicians will obtain any necessary copyright permission and/or license for any non-original works used for any Library event. This includes works performed live and/or use of recorded music.
Items related to the library events may be sold if the sales are approved by the library.
Library staff may not assist with sales.
Insurance and Training Requirements
The library reserves the right to request at any time that a Presenter provide proof of insurance if the library determines that such insurance is required in the interest of health and safety and/or the protection of property. The type and amount of such insurance shall be determined by the library in its sole discretion.
QPL requires that organizers obtain general liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 and name the library as an additional insured for all events that include:
- Physical activity (Yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi, dance classes/rehearsals)
- Use of animals in any programs and Science programs with an experiment component (Must have prior approval by the Library’s Risk Management office)
The Library reserves the right to require insurance for other activities on a case-by-case basis. Insurance requirements are subject to change at any time.
QPL requires proof of Licenses, or accredited certifications for all Fitness classes, Example:
- NCCA Accreditation Certification or other third- party certifications or License.
- RYS 200- hour Teacher training
